Our primary objectives are to connect students with alumni and professionals in environmental law, engage students in local community service events focused on environmental restoration, and serve as a forum for education on the latest environmental issues. Environmental law encompasses a large array of topics including air pollution, water quality, climate change, land use, hazardous waste management, and biodiversity law. We aspire to connect each interested UC Hastings student with the tools they need to discover where their environmental passion lies and provide them with networking opportunities that will give them an edge in pursuing their dream job.
Last year we debuted HELA’s first Alumni Mentor Program, connecting students with alumni working in environmental law. We also initiated HELA’s first 1L Summer Grant to award funding to UC Hastings 1L students pursuing unpaid environmental non-profit summer internships. This year, we plan on continuing these programs and expanding upon last year’s achievements. This includes connecting more students with mentors and giving away more scholarship money.
We hope you’ll join us for one of our many upcoming events this semester!
