Housing Services aims to provide a residential environment for UC Hastings students that is safe, secure, well-maintained, and affordable; and which promotes academic success builds lasting relationships, and fosters a spirit of cooperation and camaraderie among our diverse and multi-cultural student population. To accomplish our objective, Housing Services will produce a well-trained staff of professionals, resources, and services for our students as they strive to achieve their educational goals.
Eligibility and Application Procedure
All students admitted to UC Hastings College of the Law are eligible for residency at McAllister Tower.
Once admitted to UC Hastings, students are eligible to apply for an apartment in the Tower. Apartments are assigned on a first-come, first-serve basis. Once assigned an apartment, students are permitted to live in the Tower for all three years of study.
Due to the limited number of apartments, new students who are interested in residing at McAllister Tower are encouraged to apply immediately following acceptance to UC Hastings. To apply, please complete this form and submit the required application fee/security deposit, or contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
Students who complete the application and submit the processing fee will be assigned an apartment in the order that applications are received. Students are encouraged to indicate the size of unit they prefer. Every effort will be made to satisfy the stated preference.
Term of Occupancy
The term of occupancy is from August through May, unless otherwise agreed upon. Further details are provided in the rental agreement. Arrangements may be made for summer occupancy.
Deposits and Due Dates
- Upon room assignment, students must remit first month’s rent.
- If the student does not remit payment by the designated day, the apartment will be reassigned.
- Leases will be signed upon arrival at McAllister Tower.
Rent Payment Options
UC Hastings agrees to hold a unit for any existing Tower resident, leaving for the Summer (June 1 -July 31) in exchange for a non-refundable holding fee of $500.00.
This applies to any resident wishing to return back to the same unit (or possibly another unit if arrangements with Tower Manager were made in advance) for the next academic year. The resident must sign a Tower lease for the whole term (August 1 through May 31) and remit the holding fee by the July 1 deadline. The holding fee can be remitted through this link: https://uchastings.webconnex.com/returning-tower-rent. Funds will be applied towards first month’s rent upon room assignment. The holding fee will be forfeited if the resident withdraws from housing after the July 1 deadline. Email Tower manager at email@example.com with any questions.
