The Center, both on its own and in partnership with other organizations, hosts and sponsors a range of conferences, lectures, workshops, CLEs, court hearings and oral arguments, and other events. Recurring events include the Bay Area Procedure Forum.
Center Director Scott Dodson delivered a keynote lecture titled “Cooperativism in the American Adversarial Tradition” to the Japanese Association of the Law of Civil Procedure on May 22, 2021, in Tokyo, Japan.
The Center is excited to announce that, in partnership with the Pound Civil Justice Institute, it will be cosponsoring an academic conference titled “The Internet and the Law: Legal Challenges in the New Digital Age” on the UC Hastings Law campus on November 6-7, 2021. The Center will also host two programs on the UC Hastings Law campus in 2022. In March 2022, it will partner with the National Judicial College to host a program for judges titled “When Justice Fails: Japanese Incarceration.” And, in June 2022, it will host the National Institute of Trial Advocacy’s “Deposition and Trial Skills Program” for practicing attorneys.
