The Center, both on its own and in partnership with other organizations, hosts and sponsors a range of conferences, lectures, workshops, CLEs, court hearings and oral arguments, and other events. Recurring events include the Bay Area Procedure Forum.
The Center will host three programs on the UC Hastings Law campus in 2022. In June 2022, it will partner with the National Judicial College to host a program for judges titled “When Justice Fails: Japanese Incarceration.” Also in June 2022, it will host the National Institute of Trial Advocacy’s “Deposition and Trial Skills Program” for practicing attorneys. And, in October 2022, it will organize and cosponsor, with Huntington Bank, the academic “Class Action Ethics Symposium.”
2021 events included the following:
- Center Director Scott Dodson delivered a keynote lecture titled “Cooperativism in the American Adversarial Tradition” to the Japanese Association of the Law of Civil Procedure on May 22 in Tokyo, Japan.
- On Nov. 6-7, the Center hosted and cosponsored, with the Pound Civil Justice Institute, an academic conference titled “The Internet and the Law: Legal Challenges in the New Digital Age” on the UC Hastings Law campus.
